Education

  • Completion of 1 year post secondary certificate in occupational health and safety.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related fieldwork safety experience, requiring client service, organizational, and time management skills

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safey Act, Canada Labour Code Part II and their regulations.
  • Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
  • Regulation 1101 First Aid Requirements
  • CSA Z1000 – Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • Auditing processes, procedures
  • Generally accepted safety policies, best practices and industry standards
  • Records management practices and techniques
  • Unionized environments, collective agreements 

Skills

  • Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and discretion, and maintains strict confidentiality
  • Proficiency in researching health and safety information
  • Interpret and translate legislation into common language
  • Proficiency at an intermediate/advanced level of SharePoint (libraries, lists and document sets)
  • Proficiency at an intermediate/advanced level in MS O365 to support the production of documents, spreadsheets, reports and presentations
  • Strict attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adaptable to change and reliable
